Céline, part of the LVMH group, is pleased to announce a new initiative of cultural sponsorship with its support of the exhibition Isa Genzken: Retrospective, at The Museum of Mordern Art, New York.

Phoebe Philo, Creative Director at Céline, has chosen this important show of work by Genzken, a contemporary German artist, as the inaugural project in the company's cultural sponsorship programme. Born in 1948, Isa Genzken has produced a large, innovative and diverse body of work, including sculpture, installation, film, photography, and artist's books. Widely considered to be the most significant female sculptor of her generation, she is poised to achieve greater global recognition with this exhibition, her largest to date. Following its installation at The Museum of Mordern Art, New York, from November 23, 2013 to March 10, 2014, the show will travel to the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago, and the Dallas Museum of Art.

The spirit of Genzken's art - richly imaginative, responsive and questing in its fearless exploration of ideas and materials - is one that resonates with the Céline brand. A house that has become strongly associated with independent modern women and bold emotional values, Céline, under Philo's direction, has embraced a forward-looking aesthetic that sets no limits to creativity. Supporting the extraordinary talent and integrity of an artist such Genzken reinforces the identity of Céline's thoughtful, open-minded clientele and the vision of the house.

In the words of Céline CEO, Marco Gobbetti, "It is a great honor for Céline to sponsor an exhibition by this exceptional artist at a remarkable institution. It is a perfect starting point for Céline's very selective programme of cultural support, consistent with our philosophy of combining the best quality with a unique and powerful point of view."
