DAVID KRAMER

FUSING IMAGES CULLED FROM EVERYDAY SUNSETS TO PARODIES OF ADVERTISEMENTS, ARTIST DAVID KRAMER ADDRESS EACH ARTWORK WITH BITING HUMOR OR MELANCHOLIC TONES. KRAMER’S TEXT ARE THE COMBINATION OF HIS OWN MEDITATIVE THOUGHTS WHILE TACKLING THE PROCESS OF PAINTING, OR THEY ARE SKIMMED FROM HIS OWN CONVERSATIONS, NAVIGATING THE DAY TO DAY BANTER HE IS PARTICIPATING IN ON THE STREETS OF NEW YORK CITY. THE TEXT IN KRAMER’S WORK IS INFORMED BY THE CONTRADICTIONS OF THE ASPIRATIONS OF THE AMERICAN DREAM, AND THE SELF-DEPRECATING REALIZATION THAT EVEN IF DREAMS DO COME TRUE, THEY STILL DON’T LOOK THE SAME WHEN YOU ARE AWAKE.
DAVID KRAMER WAS BORN IN NEW YORK CITY WHERE HE CURRENTLY LIVES AND WORKS. HIS WORK, WHICH SPANS MEDIUM BETWEEN PAINTING, DRAWING, INSTALLATIONS AND VIDEO, HAS BEEN EXHIBITED WIDELY THROUGHOUT NORTH AMERICA AND EUROPE. HIS WORK HAS BEEN EXHIBITED AT THE WHITNEY MUSEUM OF CONTEMPORARY ART, THE BROOKLYN MUSEUM OF ART, MASON ROUGE, AND MUSE POMPIDOU AND OTHER INSTITUTIONS. HE IS REPRESENTED IN PARIS BY GALERIE LAURENT GODIN.
