Celine Nevelson Project Necklace Sterling Silver and Oak Wood - Silver / Black

"Hedi Slimane reinterprets a work by the famous artist Louise Nevelson, one of the most prominent figures in modern sculpture. Primarily known for her monumental panels made up of multiple boxes, wherein the totemic complexity of her assemblages merge together into a monochromatic wave, the artist has also designed a vast jewelry collection, which serves as an extension of her art. These refined jewelry pieces are arranged with black wood and set with metal, and recall the same constructivist assembly techniques the artist uses in her sculpture. Her diverse artistic influences combine through her work, namely a revolt against conventions, as borrowed from the surrealist movement, the formal research of cubism, and the freedom of expression of 'primitive art.'"
